on the weekend of the 24th and 25th may we competed 2 days at sunny terrigal beach.

another full house weekend with record club crew numbers and an action packed 2 days! clubs are settling into the rythm of the premiership, and crews are getting to know the competition in each division.

the running of each carnival is very smooth and quick, which means that all clubs work hard to stay on schedule with crews, boats and motors.

its exciting to see the record numbers attending, which paints an geat picture for state titles at Towradgi.

Avalon beach SLSC made 4 finals each day, tallying 8 finals in total for the weekend. Taking out consecutive second placings straight rescues and mass rescue devisions. there are usually 9 boats in each race, with 5 or 4 going through to the next round. with the event tally for the day soaring into the 100s region, thats an excellent result!

our team demonstrated outstanding skill in precision race starts, pickups and landings on the beach.

the number of people representing our club in the squad has grown considerably this season, and has made for some sensational combinations of drivers, crew and patients.

it is a sport of precision timing and skill, and our club is right up there in that area.

this is a progressive point score premiership, which means that our overall points tally is going up each round.

if all goes well. we should be bring home some shiny metal at aussies on 21st - 22nd june!

Manly Carnival - Rounds 1 and 2.

IRB rounds 1 and 2 – Manly Beach Report. The Avalon Beach SLSC IRB Competition Team had some fantastic results at our first 2 rounds held  over 3 rd and 4th May. Manly Beach put on 2 beautiful sunny days for our competition. NSW clubs from  up and down the coast put their skills to the test for the first competition weekend of the season.

Our team has grown in size this season with the addition of some enthusiastic and skilled new  members. This new found strength saw our team find places in up to 6 finals  in 3 divisions: straight  rescue, mass rescue and teams rescue. we took several 2nds and 3rds in NSW finals in these events. The 2 days of competition were long, 107 events run per day, as opposed to the standard 60-65 per  day. Meaning that clubs are entering more teams for competition, and making the standard of  competition that much higher!

We have walked away from this weekend with our heads held high, and smiles on our faces! now its back to the drawing board to try out new found techniques and methods of racing. Our next  carnival rounds will be held at Terrigal Beach on 24 th and 25th may. Our next challenge is to improve on our already fantastic results. The team is feeling inspired and  fired up from our fantastic beginning to the season. Go Team! find our more IRB competition info at
