Special congratulations to Avalon Beach competitor Adriaan Van Der Wallen who brought home 2 Gold medals in the surfing at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships in Queensland. Adriaan won Gold in the over 40 years Long board and Gold in the 40 years and over Short board. He also won Silver in the Open mens Longboard.

These medals add to Adriaan's Gold and Silver medals he won recently at the NSW Championships.

Unfortunately Adriaan also snapped his new longboard while surfing at Snapper Rocks this week in the huge Queensland swells.

Congratulations to Master paddler Chris McGuckin who won Silver at the Australian Championships in Kurrawa in Qld this week. He missed out on gold by by inches after paddling through massive swell which dominated the Masters Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also congrats to Darren Warrener and Adriaan Van der Wallen who joined Chris to bring home a Bronze in the Men's 130 years Board relay behind Freshwater and Copacabana.

Not only was it a neck and neck race to the finish line by final paddler Adriaan but the race was made more exciting by the massive wave that Chris caught out at the cans and rode to the beach. Well done boys.

Unfortunately our Masters girls were smashed in the surf with a spectacular finish to the old girls boat race. If you want to see Rick Millar fly through the air click on the image below
